Incursion: Monthly fruit & vegetable exploration workshops
Hands-on sensory food exploration is the perfect way to teach nutrition to preschoolers because they exhibit abundant curiosity. The monthly workshops are designed to improve relationships with the most challenging food group — vegetables — and to keep interest in fruit (which is generally good in this age group) maintained.
At each visit, we get the exploration ball rolling by introducing a new seasonal fruit and vegetable of the month. Some of the things we explore include their sensory characteristics, their farm to table journey (considering different cultures and uses across the globe), how they help our bodies, fun facts and more.
We feature one fruit and one vegetable for a month for good reason. Familiarity — which is achieved through regular repeated exposure — is fundamental to building good food relationships, as is trust and feeling comfortable in the presence of a food.
Workshop activities vary each month to bring out the best in the produce... and kids! The sessions include activities like storytelling, science experiments, edible art, food preparation/cooking (non-heat where possible) and games.
Enrolled centres are provided with resources for school and home to help with continued learning and exposure.

Incursion: Interactive food, health & nutrition lessons
I deliver positively-focused, age-appropriate food, health and nutrition lessons.
Lessons can be arranged as a standalone incursion or booked in conjunction with the monthly fruit and vegetable exploration workshops.
Aligned with the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the Early Years Learning Framework, the lessons promote healthy relationships with food and help children to understand the connection between food and good health, empowering them with the tools to live a healthy life.
